Successful people

From time to time, I'm deep into poetry and can't get out until I create something. Now, at 2:43 AM, I decided to share one of my poems with my small audience :) Hope it will be useful and inspiring.

Successful people

Climbing the mountain’s top
The man decided to start.
From now on his actions and dreams
Are not separated, apart.

He approached the mountain’s foot,
Where he saw the sentence on stone:
“I’m starting to climb the mountain.”
Now man knows, he is not alone.

After hours and hours of climbing,
When the man’s weakened belief,
He notices another writing:
“I was here.”- on stone under leaf.

Now he knows, someone went even further,
And again his power is high,
Just because of simple idea:
“Someone did, so can do I!”.

But no matter how hard he tries,
And comes over the struggles and pain,
There are written just simple 3 words,
“I was here.” - irrefutable claim...

“How hardy indeed is this person?!
Would be great, if he helps me to climb.
How he does that? I can’t imagine!”
- were thoughts in exhausted man’s mind...

Almost dead and very tired,
He slowly reaches the top of the stone
To see the shocking and striking scene,
“I was” - written there alone.

And he sees someone laying in front,
With small piece of the chalk in his hand.
Person’s legs were faded to blood,
So were knees, tied up with the band...

Only now man understood,
He was blind and wrong in his thoughts!
Only now he sees all the struggle,
That resulted in simple 3 words.

And indeed when we see someone high,
We are somehow blind at all.
We don’t think of all the struggles,
We don’t look behind the wall...

It's all about teamwork.

What do you do, when you are too exhausted, because of all responsibilities you have? When you are down and have no more force to get up and continue living? When the whole world turns against you, but you have to keep going? Will it be difficult for you? The answer is of course yes, but only if you are alone. Everything completely changes its colors, when you are not. In this post, I would like to write about the importance of having fellow travelers in your life.

Today is the November 1st, which means I didn't write a single post for the month of October. There are many reasons for that, mainly because I had no inspiration to do so, but also because I had a busy month. What happened in October? Midterms, hackathon, quizzes, Charity Week and again midterms. For those of you who don't know what is hackathon, it is an event, usually lasting several days, in which large number of people meet to engage in collaborative computer programming. For me, it is the only chance to forget about all the deadlines and exams for couple of days, just to enjoy the atmosphere of coding and finally try things I wanted to try since long time ago. Of course this doesn't free me of my responsibilities, but inside, I don't feel obligated during the hackathon. This hackathon was held in our university and took place during the weekends. It was full of great impressions and emotions. I spent the whole 24 hours learning and trying out mobile application development using Python-Kivy. Generally, I enjoyed it a lot, but nothing comes for free. It costed me my weekend and on Sunday night I faced the following to do list...

This to do list is not even full!! Obviously, the probability of my survival was low. But I don't believe in complete darkness. There always will be a ray of hope and this ray was my friend, who decided to not go to the hackathon. I want to tell a bit about this person. He is also a second year computer science student at my university. I don't remember how we became friends, however I remember it was in the middle of my very first semester in this university. Since then, we studied together and helped each other in different situations. We survived the large waves of exams and deadlines. I'm sure, that each of us could handle that alone, but that would be far more difficult. We are all human and we have different phases and moods in our lives. Sometimes you are just full of energy and ready to overcome any obstacles you face and sometimes you are just powerless. Life may bring to you not the happiest news or you may just be tired and exhausted. At such moments, you are just not ready to fight for your life. Those are the days, when you need the person who grabs you and carries you through the fire. And you, in its turn, must be such a person for him. You probably have seen the picture below. It perfectly describes, what I'm trying to explain.

As you might have already guessed, after this hackathon, my friend carried me once again. That is the point, when I understood the real importance of a team. Working together when everything is okay is one thing. However when facing problems, you carry your team and team carries you. And if there is no one to carry and the whole team falls, it will hurt much less than if you were alone and getting up will be much faster than you expected. The only important thing, is to have good teammates.

I explained everything in terms of studies, just because that are the only obstacles I'm going through at the moment. But this rule applies everywhere. Wherever you are and whatever you are doing, going together is funnier and easier.
